Ministry Of Commerce: China'S Investment In Countries Along The Belt And Road Increased By 9.9% In The First Seven Months; Ministry Of Commerce; The Belt And Road Initiative

The reporter learned at the press conference of the Ministry of commerce that from January to July this year, China's non-financial direct investment in countries along the belt and road was US $11.29 billion, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year, accounting for 18% of the total amount in the same period, an increase of 1% over the same period of last year. In the countries along the belt and road, the newly signed contract amount of the project is 64.42 billion US dollars, and the completed turnover is 45.26 billion US dollars, accounting for 52.3% and 57.6% of the total amount in the same period respectively.

On the same day, the Ministry of commerce also released the situation of China's foreign investment and cooperation. According to the data, in the first seven months, China's foreign non-financial direct investment reached RMB 406.52 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 4% (equivalent to US $62.81 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%). The turnover of foreign contracted projects reached RMB 508.13 billion, up 3.4% year on year (equivalent to US $78.51 billion, up 12.3% year on year); The newly signed contract amount was RMB 797.7 billion, down 6.8% year on year (equivalent to US $123.25 billion, up 1.2% year-on-year). Foreign labor cooperation sent out 184000 labor personnel of various types, and at the end of July, there were 602000 foreign labor service personnel.

Recently, China's "belt and road" trade and investment development report 2021 (hereinafter referred to as the "report") released by the Research Institute of international trade and economic cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce shows that as of June 2021, China has signed 206 cooperation documents on jointly building the "belt and road" with 140 countries and 32 international organizations, covering interconnection, investment, trade, finance, science and technology, society, humanities and technology People's livelihood, marine and other fields. China and the countries that have jointly built the belt and road initiative have continuously improved their multilateral, bilateral and regional cooperation mechanisms, reached a series of important consensus, and expanded the benefits of development achievements.

The report also shows that in terms of investment, under the background of a 35% year-on-year decrease in global foreign direct investment in 2020, Chinese domestic investors will realize direct investment of US $18.61 billion in 58 countries along the belt and road, accounting for 14% of the total in the same period, 0.3% higher than that of the previous year; In terms of engineering construction, from 2013 to 2020, the newly signed contract amount of China's contracted projects in countries along the "belt and road" increased from 71.57 billion US dollars to 141.46 billion US dollars, with an average annual growth of 10.2%; The completed turnover increased from US $65.4 billion to US $911.2 billion, with an average annual growth of 4.9%.
